Kota Kinabalu

We ended up staying with Michael and Elise the night before flying to Kota Kinabalu via Singapore. It was an early start with 7.55am flight. Unfortunately we missed seeing Lynne who arrived in from Oslo just before we left!
The flight on premium economy to Singapore was good except for one meal that was nearly cold! Unfortunately I was so distracted I managed to leave my iPad in the deep seat pocket. We're hoping that Singapore airlines will have found it and we can collect it on the way through on Tuesday!
When we arrived in KK ,Peter Cantwell's two daughters, Kate and Cora, were there to meet us. They were home from University in Perth for a month. Peter and Lisa, his younger Malaysian wife, made us very welcome and we were soon set in a lovely unit looking across the grass and large swimming pool to the Sandy Beach and ocean. Peter built Langkah Syabas resort as a place for Lisa and it is south of the city of Kota Kinabalu and airport and had about 25 units around two pools. It's a Malaysian style resort, not 5 star one such as the Hilton which Peter worked on for friend Stephen Tan. The following five days were very relaxing. On the Tuesday we joined the family at the condo they have bought as a retirement place but we can't imagine Peter retired. He is project managing another hotel, three and half stars! Wednesday Ken joined Peter and two friends for 9 holes of golf. Lisa, girls and I did some shopping, buying Lisa a lovely new dress with peplum on bodice! Reminded me of dresses many years ago. Then we went over to the Hilton and were treated like royalty as Peter has access to the Executive suite and discounts everywhere, because of his work on building it. Dinner was superb and so were the wines!!
Next day we had to leave them after a wonderful time with the Cantwells and head to Saigon.
